Single Genre Research

Pop Rock was inspired by many subgenres for example, heavy metal, country, indie and many more. However, the key genre which influenced rock pop would be rock n roll in the 1950s Elvis Presley created a new style of music being rock n roll inspired by jazz and blue gaining extreme popularity. As the music progressed, and The Beatles came on the scene hey had hat aspect of rock n roll as well as aspect in pop music. As the years developed more artists came on the scene for example NSYNC who had more of a pop feel to their music but contained the upbeat tempo and the instruments used for a rock pop setup being drums, bass, guitar, keys and vocals. The difference between rock and pop music is that pop music has more relatable meaningful lyrics, focusing more on the vocals whereas rock music focuses more on the instrumentation of the songs with “hooks” and well known “riffs” to gain listeners attention. So, pop rock is a combination of both, the meaningful lyrics and the creative instrumentation. The development of recording equipment, radio and television was also a key aspect to rise of rock pop music as it is said that rock pop music became so well-known due to be commercially successful meaning.
